Flexential

Flexential is a U.S. data center operator formed when Peak 10 acquired ViaWest in August 2017 for $1.67 billion. The company subsequently rebranded in January 2018 as a single company.

The company provides colocation, interconnection, cloud, and managed services. The company is backed by private equity firm GI Partners, which agreed to acquire Peak 10 in 2014. ViaWest was founded in 1999 in Denver and Peak 10 in 2000 in Charlotte, with each building regional data center portfolios before combining in 2017.

Flexential History:

  • In January 2018, Rebranded from Peak 10 + ViaWest to Flexential.
  • In August 2017, Peak 10 completed the acquisition of ViaWest from Shaw Communications for approximately US$1.675 billion.
  • In November 2015, ViaWest agreed to acquire INetU for US$162.5 million.
  • In June 2015, ViaWest agreed to acquire AppliedTrust.
  • In March 2000, Peak 10 was founded in Charlotte, North Carolina.
  • In April 1999, ViaWest was founded in Denver as a roll-up of ISPs

Flexential Locations

Flexential's Miami Fort Lauderdale site is a former Peak 10 site. Flexential was created after Peak10 acquired ViaWest for $1.67 billion in August 2017. The rebranding from Peak10 to Flexential was announced in January 2018.

The site houses the U.S. cable landing station for the Hawaiki submarine cable, which delivers “low-latency” connection between the continental U.S., Hawaii, Australia, New Zealand and American Samoa.

The Englewood site is also known as Flexential's Compark Data Center. Englewood is Flexential's largest site in Denver.

Flexential, a U.S. data center company, is expanding its presence in Hillsboro, Oregon, with the acquisition of land for its sixth data center in the city.

Flexential's Douglasville data center campus is located at 1700 N. River Rd, Douglasville. The first building of the campus spans an area of 204,514 square feet.

The Brentwood site was known as "Nashville 1" and "Nashville 4" when they were operated by Peak 10.

Flexential's Hillsboro 4 project is located at 4915 NE Starr Blvd, adjacent to its Hillsboro 3 facility. Hillsboro 4 adds 138,000 sq. ft. and 18 MW to Flexential’s regional footprint.

Flexential's Hillsboro 5 data center, a 358,000 square foot facility, is located at 4975 NE Starr Boulevard within the company's Hillsboro 4 campus.

The Lone Mountain Data Center in North Las Vegas opened in 2013. Flexential's Lone Mountain site is former ViaWest.

  • AwardedTier IV Design Certification by the Uptime Institute for the design documents
  • 3,000 tons redundant, fault-tolerant cooling capacity

The company began construction of the facility in October 2020 and finished in 2022. The facility totals 358,000 square feet (33,300 sq m) and supports 36MW consisting of four separate halls, each with 60,000 sq ft (5,500 sq m) and 9MW capacity.

Flexential's Plano site in Dallas is former ViaWest. Flexential was created after Peak10 acquired ViaWest for $1.67 billion in August 2017.
