PCC-DeKalb: Ellenwood, GA

Lot Size: 95 acres

A proposal to rezone 95 acres in DeKalb County, Georgia, for a 1 million sq ft data center and electric substation has been deferred. The applicant, PCC-DeKalb LLC, requested a Special Land Use Permit for the facility in Ellenwood. The site is within an overlay district where data centers are not a listed permitted use. The applicant argued the center was similar to a permitted "utility structure," but DeKalb County staff disagreed, leading to a recommendation for deferral. The County's Planning Commission also advised the Board of Commissioners to defer the decision, initially for 30 days, to allow time to address issues, including the application's incompatibility with the Comprehensive Plan. The end-user of the facility remains unknown.
