The edge data centers developed by nLighten are designed to meet the increasing demand for faster and more reliable data processing and storage, while also being mindful of environmental impact. nLighten was founded in 2021 by a core team with many years of experience and wide-ranging expertise in the data center sector. The team's main motivation was to create the next step for the data center industry and align edge data centers with the green transition.
nLighten's goal is to build and operate the leading pan-European edge data center platform. The company's focus on strategic locations, low latency, and environmental consciousness positions it as an innovative player in the European digital infrastructure landscape.
Expansion and Acquisitions
nLighten has grown rapidly through both organic growth and strategic acquisitions:
- In June 2023, the company acquired Euclyde Data Centers, a French regional platform with six carrier-neutral data centers.
- In September 2023, nLighten completed the acquisition of Proximity Data Centers, a leading UK edge platform with ten carrier-neutral data centers.
- The company also acquired 10 carrier data center sites from its sister company Exa Infrastructure.

The nLighten Chester (MAN1) facility is a Tier III-standard edge data center located on the Dunkirk Trading Estate.
The data center is located just off the A1 motorway, 15 minutes from Hamburg’s main train station, and 30 minutes by car from Hamburg Airport.
Acquired in 2023 by nLighten as part of a strategic expansion into the UK market, nLighten Bristol BRS1 is a high-performance edge data center located in the Aztec West Business Park.
This facility was formerly operated by Euclyde Datacenters, which officially rebranded to nLighten France in 2024 following its acquisition by the nLighten group.
