Site History


  • 2025 : nLighten launched a £15 million infrastructure upgrade to transition the site into a high-efficiency facility with a design PUE of 1.2 – 1.3.

  • 2023: The facility was acquired by nLighten (backed by I Squared Capital) as part of its acquisition of the full Proximity Data Centers portfolio, rebranding the site from "Edge 9" to BRS1.

  • 2022: The site officially opened for public colocation as Proximity Edge 9 following a £13.1 million acquisition and refurbishment.

  • 2000 – 2022: The building served as a private, enterprise-grade data center for Capgemini, supporting major corporate and government IT infrastructure.

  • 1995: The facility was originally constructed at 1120 Park Avenue as a purpose-built data center for the financial services firm Sun Alliance.
