Revitalization Unlimited

Year Planned: 2029
Floors: 20

Kansas City officials unanimously rejected a proposal to build a data center spanning 20 stories at 304 W. 10th Street in August 2026.

The plan from Revitalization Unlimited and SOM called for demolishing the historic Western Newspaper Union Building, built around 1900, to make way for the facility. The project sparked fierce community backlash, drawing 475 letters in opposition and zero in support, because the developer had purchased the landmark listed on the National Register in January 2026 under the promise of historic preservation.
