Lone Star PACE and Nuveen Green Capital have secured $40 million in clean energy financing to transform the historic Compaq Computer campus in Houston into an AI data center. The 66-acre property, now known as the Viva Center, is located at the intersection of State Highway 249 and Louetta Road.
The first phase of renovations at the 774,000-square-foot facility will focus on sustainability upgrades, including energy-efficient window systems, modern LED lighting infrastructure, new HVAC systems, and high-efficiency plumbing solutions.
ViVaVerse offers colocation data center services from its 94-acre campus in Cypress Creek. The campus was initially used by Compaq as a site for its personal computer business. Compaq merged with Hewlett-Packard in 2002. MFI acquired the business in 2022 and began operating in high-performance computing under the name ViVaVerse Solutions.
In 2024, Power solution provider RPower partnered with ViVaVerse Solutions to build a 17MW microgrid at the ViVa data center campus in Houston, Texas.
