On Friday, July 7, UH Energy will host an educational symposium with a focus on hydrocarbon basin analysis, policy changes, and hydrocarbon opportunities in India to mark the opening of the new University of Houston (UH) - Directorate General for Hydrocarbon (DGH) Center for Hydrocarbon Exploration.
UH and the DGH, the technical agency of the Indian Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, are partners in the Data Center. It consists of a geoscience data repository with display capability and software to interpret essential exploration and production (E&P) data, as well as in-depth knowledge of India's sedimentary basins and fields.
Houston was a logical strategic choice for the data center because it is home to more than 4,500 energy-related businesses and is a significant oil and gas hub and because UH is a Tier One research university with internationally renowned researchers. This decision was made back in February.
In order to promote business opportunities involving Indian offshore offerings, the five-year agreement aims to provide trustworthy and high-quality information, including seismic, well, reservoir, and production data, to financiers and businesses based in the Greater Houston area and the Gulf Coast.
Although the event is free and accessible to the public, registration in advance is required. Food and beverages will be supplied.
