Savion, the company developing the massive 250MW Plano Skies Energy Center solar project in Kendall County, Illinois, is now proposing to add a large data center campus to the development.
The planned data center campus would be situated off Rock Creek Road, just north of Plano. The proposal includes seven data center buildings, each equipped with its own backup generation unit, alongside a switch substation and a DC substation. Details regarding the data centers' cooling systems are still pending.
The data center plans have faced backlash from local city officials who have voiced objections due to the lack of detailed information provided about the project.
