Optage Inc., a Japanese ISP, is developing its fifth data center in Osaka's Higashi-Umeda area. Named 'Optage Sonezaki Data Center,' the 14-story carrier-neutral facility will offer 24,100 square feet (2,250 square meters) of space and incorporate seismic isolation design for earthquake protection. The facility is scheduled to open in January 2026.
The project is being developed on land owned by Kansai Television and marks the first collaboration between Kansai Television and the Sankei Building Company. Once completed, Optage will manage the facility's operations. The data center will use renewable energy certificates from its parent company, Kansai Electric Power Co, to offset its power consumption.
Optage, established in 1988, is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Kansai Electric Company (KEC) and provides telecommunications services throughout the Kansai region.
