Overview

Lumen Minneapolis 1 occupies Suite 700 inside Two22, a 41-story Class A office tower at 222 South Ninth Street in downtown Minneapolis. The site is one of three Lumen-operated facilities in the Twin Cities metro and serves as a downtown carrier hotel-style suite tied directly to Lumen's national long-haul fiber network. It came under the Lumen brand via the 2017 CenturyLink / Level 3 merger and the 2020 Lumen rebrand.

The Building: Two22

Two22 is the fifth tallest building on the Minneapolis skyline, completed in 1985 and originally built as the headquarters for Piper Jaffray. The tower was renamed Campbell Mithun Tower in 2000 after Piper's acquisition by U.S. Bancorp, and rebranded to Two22 in 2019 when Oaktree Capital Management acquired the property for roughly $81 million. The building holds LEED Gold certification and totals approximately 901,000 square feet across 41 floors. Lumen is one of many tenants and operates a small carrier suite, not a purpose-built data center.

Role in the Twin Cities Market

The site sits in the heart of downtown Minneapolis with skyway access and proximity to the broader downtown carrier hotel ecosystem, including Cologix MIN1, 511 Building / Lumen Minneapolis 2, and the 60 South Sixth complex. Lumen Minneapolis 1 emphasizes carrier services and interconnection over wholesale colocation.

Connectivity

The site offers diverse fiber entry and on-net Lumen services with multiple carrier alternates available via cross-connect. The facility supports AC and DC power, UPS / battery backup, generator standby, fire suppression, and full environmental controls. Power is delivered by Xcel Energy (Northern States Power), the regional utility serving downtown Minneapolis.
