In Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota, Florida-based developer QLevr has proposed a $150+ million edge data center at the former Travel Tags industrial site.
The 54,000-square-foot facility is designed with a closed-loop cooling system to minimize resource consumption, but its close proximity to residential areas and Fleming Field Airport sparked intense community pushback over potential noise, property values, and grid strain. Following highly charged public meetings, the City Council voted to enact a one-year moratorium on data center developments to study infrastructure impacts, freezing the project alongside an environmental review triggered by a 700-signature resident petition. In response, QLevr’s legal team has threatened a $150 million lawsuit, arguing the moratorium retroactively and unlawfully targets an application submitted before the freeze.
