Internap Corporation (NASDAQ: INAP) is a provider of data center services including colocation, managed hosting, cloud and network services. The company is headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, United States with company-controlled data centers located in North America, EMEA, and APAC.

Internap History:

Internap was founded in 1996 and initially headquartered in Seattle. During the dot-com bubble, the company was smart to go public. The Initial Public Offering (IPO) took place in 1999 on the NASDAQ with the symbol INAP. Internap sold 9.5 million shares at $20 apiece, and the stock climbed as high as $73 before closing just below $53.

2002

INAP relocated its headquarters from Seattle to Atlanta.

2000

INAP acquired CO Space, Inc which provided the company with its data center offering.

2012

Acquired Voxel for $35 million in cash. Voxel provided on-demand dedicated hosting and cloud services to enterprises and Web-centric businesses. Voxel had more than 1,000 customers and has approximately 50 employees.

2013

Acquired iWeb, a Montreal-based web hosting and colocation services provider, for $145 million.

2016

In September, Peter D. Aquino became the CEO of Internap. Aquino replaced Mike Ruffolo who's short tenure lasted from May 2015 to September 2016.

2018

  • In January, INAP acquired SingleHop, a IaaS provider for $132 million in cash.
  • In March the company announced it was moving its headquarters to Virginia. Atlanta will continue to serve as local operations and staff headquarters, while the new official corporate headquarters will be located in the Virginia office. The new Virginia HQ will “INAP's corporate headquarters will be a small group in charge of capital allocation, strategic direction, and external affairs.”
