Apple is investing $175 million to expand its existing data center in Maiden. Permits indicate the project will add a 237,600 square-foot facility on land already owned by the company.

The data center will be located next to one of Denmark’s largest electrical substations, which Apple said will help it eliminate the need for additional generators. The facility is designed to capture excess heat from equipment inside and conduct it into the district heating system to help warm homes in the neighboring community.
