Apple has acquired 147 acres of land next to its Reno data center campus for future developments.

Utility & Power

Served by NV Energy (Sierra Pacific Power Co.), the Northern Nevada investor-owned utility. Nevada is not in an RTO, so large-load requests route bilaterally through NV Energy and the PUCN rather than through an interconnection queue.

This parcel is undeveloped land bank within Reno Technology Park, adjacent to Apple's operating data center campus. Estimated developable capacity ~150 MW (~1 MW/acre); no capacity is contracted yet.

Campus power context:

• Apple's ~$1.3B Reno Technology Park expansion (approved by NV GOED, Aug 2024) includes a new 345-kV substation and up to 1,000 MW of campus capacity, developable across Apple's three RTP land-bank parcels.
• The original campus started on a 15 MW NV Energy feed and grew to a ~300 MW load; Apple previously permitted a 50 MW substation as local supply neared capacity.
• Transmission: NV Energy's Greenlink Nevada adds three 345-kV lines from Yerington into the Reno / Innovation Park area (two to the Reno-Tahoe Industrial Center, one to the Mira Loma substation); Greenlink West (525 kV) is expected online ~mid-2027.
• Renewable supply: Apple runs the campus on 100% renewable power via NV Energy green tariffs and dedicated solar — Turquoise Solar (50 MW AC / 61 MWdc, inside the park) and Fort Churchill Solar (19.9 MW AC, near Yerington).
