In May 2025, the Chesterfield Board of Supervisors approved the rezoning of nearly 350 acres at 750 Watkins Centre Parkway, clearing the way for data center construction in western Chesterfield. Located near the Route 288 and Midlothian Turnpike junction, the Watkins Centre development was approved solely for data center use and accessory uses such as office, research and development, warehouse, substations and utility structures.
