Skybox Datacenters and Prologis are building a massive 600-megawatt campus near Austin, Texas which will offer up to 4 million square feet of data center space. The Skybox PowerCampus Austin will be located in Hutto, which is about 25 miles north of Downtown Austin. The Hutto data center estimates a cost of $86m for "site improvements".
The third building on the site would include a two-story office and two-story data center with 492,350 sq ft of floor space.
The site is adjacent to a 345 kV transmission corridor and will offer two private 300 megawatt (MW) dedicated substations, making it one of the most scalable data center campuses in the United States.
The companies acquired 220 acres from the City of Hutto in August 2022. In May 2023 plans for a 600MW ‘PowerCampus’ were announced. The site can host up to eight buildings in various build-to-suit configurations.
Diverse fiber is available with long-haul routes run parallel to the campus providing low-latency connectivity to MetCenter, 1950 Stemmons, and to other major hubs in Dallas, Houston, San Antonio.
