Nebius Unveils Plans for a 240MW Data Center in Béthune, France
February 12, 2026
Nebius
European cloud firm Nebius is spearheading a massive AI data center campus in Independence, Missouri, positioned just outside Kansas City. The project, often referred to as an "AI factory," is set to span 2.5 million square feet across a ten-building campus located on 400 acres within the Eastgate Commerce Center. Designed for high-density computing, the facility will utilize an eco-friendly closed-loop cooling system to minimize water consumption.
Powering this industrial-scale development is a unique energy solution: the redevelopment of the retired Blue Valley Power Plant. A privately financed facility by Independence Power Partners (IPP) will supply the site, with the first 250MW phase expected by October 2027 and a total capacity potentially reaching 1.1GW by 2029. With construction anticipated to begin in early 2026, this project represents a landmark $6.6 billion investment that aims to transform the region into a major hub for global AI infrastructure.
