Plans Emerge for $1.7bn Data Center in Lebanon County
April 20, 2026
Pennsylvania
The Blakely Data Center proposal, sought by a local businessman (and identified in other reports as Jim Marzolino) for a 121-acre site in Blakely Borough, was a large-scale AI data center campus. It planned for four two-story, 70-foot-tall buildings totaling 300,000 square feet and requiring significant power—up to 1.5 GW.
Despite the developers projecting substantial annual revenue for Blakely Electric (over $119 million) and significant local tax and job creation, the proposal faced strong community opposition.
The developers ultimately withdrew their application for a zoning change after being denied a chance to present revised plans publicly. Following the withdrawal, Blakely Borough officials advanced a new zoning amendment to tightly regulate any future data center projects, imposing strict requirements on size, height (40 feet limit), power source, and environmental standards.
