California-based Province Group has received approval to develop a $3 billion data center campus outside Richmond in Powhatan County, Virginia. The development will be located on 119.9 acres of undeveloped land north of US Route 60.

The data center campus would have three detached data centers with a combined 1.525 million in floor area square footage, as well as six supporting structures.
The site is currently zoned as agricultural land, with Province Group seeking to rezone the site as light industrial. Made up of three parcels, the property sits within land earmarked as an "economic opportunity zone" within Powhatan's 2021 land use plan.
The project buildout is expected to take five years at minimum. The development would create 150 to 200 on-site jobs and up to 600 indirect jobs.
