The US Navy, energy solutions provider Ameresco, and data center developer CyrusOne have partnered to develop a massive AI-optimized data center at Naval Air Station (NAS) Lemoore in California. This project is the result of a deal where the Navy will lease 920 acres of land around the base to Ameresco. The data center infrastructure will be delivered by CyrusOne, leveraging the capabilities of its high-density computing and AI-focused Intelliscale platform. The Naval Air Station Lemoore is located on the border of Kings County and Fresno County in California.

The AI-optimized data center will be co-located with a dedicated, on-site energy generation facility built by Ameresco, which will form a robust microgrid system. Ameresco plans to construct a solar farm on the leased land, which will serve as the primary power source for the facility. The microgrid system will also incorporate engine generators, control systems, and necessary infrastructure upgrades to ensure reliable power supply. A battery energy storage system will be installed to capture and store energy for periods of low solar supply.

The first segment of the project is expected to come online in 2027 on the land leased by Ameresco from the Department of Defense. Initial scope for the facility was indicated to be approximately 600,000 sq ft (56,000 sqm), to be constructed in five phases.
