CyrusOne has filed plans for three buildings at a new data center campus in Fairfield, Texas, located adjacent to Calpine’s Freestone natural gas power plant. The project, on FM 488 in Freestone County, about 90 miles (144.8km) south of Dallas, is part of a 760MW data center development being built in partnership with Calpine, a subsidiary of Constellation Energy. Details of the campus had not previously been disclosed.
The $1.5 billion campus will be powered by Calpine’s 1GW Freestone Energy Campus natural gas-fired combined-cycle plant, which spans around 506 acres. CyrusOne has started construction on two of the three facilities, with the third expected to begin next month. The campus is scheduled for completion by August 2027. The development will include three one-story data center buildings totaling 918,650 sq ft (85,345 sqm). No tenants have been identified for the facilities, according to regulatory filings.
CyrusOne, owned by KKR and Global Infrastructure Partners, operates more than 60 data centers across nine countries, including 15 facilities in Texas. Constellation, the largest US nuclear energy company, acquired Calpine, one of the country’s largest geothermal and natural gas operators, in a deal completed in January 2026. CyrusOne and Calpine are also partnering on a separate 400MW data center campus next to the Thad Hill Energy Campus, which is expected to come online in Q4 2026.
