South Korean electrical equipment maker LS Electric has secured a 185.3 billion won ($138.5m) order from Bloom Energy to supply switchgear and distribution transformers for fuel cells at a Pennsylvania data center. Deliveries of the 38kV equipment are expected between April and July next year. The project may be Aligned Data Centers’ Project Phoenix campus in Shippingport, where Bloom plans to deploy up to 2GW of behind-the-meter fuel cells.

The deal marks the second contract between LS Electric and Bloom Energy, following a 319 billion won ($216.5m) order in April for power distribution systems at a New Mexico data center, likely Oracle and BorderPlex Digital Assets’ Project Jupiter in Doña Ana County. Bloom Energy supplies solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) systems that generate electricity through electrochemical reactions rather than combustion, which the company says improves efficiency and reduces emissions.

Bloom expanded its Oracle fuel cell supply agreement earlier this year to up to 2.8GW, building on an initial 1.2GW deal signed last year. Deployments are underway and expected to continue into next year. The company has also agreed to supply more than 100MW of fuel cells across 19 Equinix data centers and up to 1GW of SOFCs for AI data centers under an agreement with American Electric Power. Last year, Bloom signed a $5 billion AI infrastructure partnership with Brookfield to fund the development and deployment of its fuel cell technology.
