Data center plans are moving ahead in Elk Grove Village as officials have announced their expectation to close on the sale of four parcels totaling 17.5 acres later this month. The sale will be made to Prime Data Centers Corp for $21.3 million. This follows planning commissioners voting unanimously to approve rezoning and zoning variations for the data center project and an initial purchase and sale agreement made in September.

As per the agreement, Prime Data Centers has pledged to build data centers in three buildings spanning 675,000 sq. ft, with an investment of $1 billion. That said, this is just Phase I, and according to local mayor Craig Johnson, Phase II could expand to between 750,000 and just under 1 million sq. ft. of data center space.

Forecasts for electricity tax revenue range between $3 and $4 million.
