Prime Data Centers: Prime Data Centers to invest $1 billion in 150MW campus in Elk Grove, Chicago

Prime Data Centers has revealed that it wants to build a new data center campus in Elk Grove, Illinois. The data center company says it has plans to invest up to $1 billion in developing a 150MW, 750,000 square feet campus that features three three-story facilities. The facility will be sited outside California, and it would be Prime’s first data center in Illinois.
Jeff Barber, EVP of sales and business development at Prime, said the Company is happy about the opportunity to venture into the Midwest market in a big way. He also said the type of facility Prime wants to build is highly sort-after by some of the largest companies globally. Jeff Barber further noted that the partnership with Elk Grove Village to meet the demand for data center capacity is strategic for both the Company and the greater Chicago market.
Elk Grove Village also revealed that it has sold four parcels of land and approved zoning changes for data center development. Mayor of Elk Grove Village, Craig Johnson, said he is happy to facilitate a $1 billion investment to the village. He added that the village would continue working with other companies to make them choose Elk Grove Village.
