Developer Western Hospitality Partners (WHP) has officially withdrawn its controversial proposal to build a data center in Pekin, Illinois, terminating its agreement to purchase a 321-acre land parcel on the Lutticken Property.
The withdrawal follows a March announcement from city leadership, which effectively rejected the project due to the intense public uncertainty and community division it caused. Local opposition had surged rapidly, with a dedicated Facebook protest group ballooning to over 6,200 members. City Attorney Jim Vasselli confirmed the definitive end of the deal to the Pekin City Council, calling it a "clean break."
