CoreWeave will lease 240MW of data center capacity in Navi Mumbai from AdaniConneX, marking the AI cloud provider's first deployment in India. The companies announced the plan on October 6, coreweave.comInterior perspective of CoreWeave's purpose-built AI data center facility.with the first phase due online in the middle of 2028.

CoreWeave (Nasdaq: CRWV) takes the whole of three 80MW buildings at AdaniConneX's Taloja campus and will be the sole tenant. The agreement carries an option to add another 240MW at the same campus, lifting its footprint there to 480MW.

The halls are being designed for high-density AI, with direct liquid cooling in the GPU data halls and a non-evaporative chilled water system. CoreWeave plans to deploy Nvidia's Vera Rubin platform for training, inference, reasoning, and agentic workloads, and it will open an India office and hire locally.

"India has the talent, developers, and ambition to become a major center of AI innovation," said Sachin Jain, Chief Operating Officer of CoreWeave. "We are investing in the infrastructure, technology, and local presence needed to support that growth, bringing 240 megawatts of capacity, NVIDIA Vera Rubin, and CoreWeave's expertise to customers building and scaling AI in India."

AdaniConneX is a 50:50 joint venture between Adani Enterprises and EdgeConneX building toward a 1GW platform in the country. Bloomberg reports the total investment will reach several billion dollars over the project's life. The two outlets diverge on the expansion ceiling: Bloomberg and Livemint put the option at a doubling to 480MW, while Data Center Dynamics describes a potential campus total of 580MW.

The deal extends a fast Asia-Pacific push. CoreWeave entered the region in August with three Indonesian facilities totaling 360MW, and reported about 4.2GW of contracted power in August. Chief executive Mike Intrator said in September that the company was "largely sold out" of capacity. India is drawing heavy spending: Amazon, Microsoft, and Google have pledged nearly $57 billion toward cloud infrastructure there, according to Livemint.

Baxtel tracks 314 data center facilities across India / Bhārata, operated by 52 providers, with Mumbai the country's largest market at 105 facilities and 28 of them under construction.

The lease-first structure lets CoreWeave add AI capacity at scale without carrying construction risk, and sole tenancy hands it control of density and cooling from day one. But mid-2028 is a long lead time in a market where power, not land, is the binding constraint. AdaniConneX is already building for Google in the same metro, and the substations that serve both campuses will decide whether the capacity arrives on schedule.
