AirTrunk, the data center operator owned by Blackstone, has been identified as the prospective buyer for a significant data center campus planned for Western Sydney, Australia.

SYD2 is AirTrunk’s third data center in Australia and join SYD1 in Sydney and MEL1 in Melbourne, which have both been operational since 2017.

AirTrunk’s newly announced OSK2 project is a massive hyperscale development located in East Osaka, designed specifically to meet the surging demand for cloud and artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure in the Kansai region.

AirTrunk is expanding its Melbourne campus. This expansion will include the construction of the remaining three phases of the six phases in MEL1 campus that will deliver over 100MW of new IT load.

Located in West Osaka, the development consists of a 16,500sqm facility dedicated to high-scale cloud requirements.

AirTrunk plans to develop its second cloud and AI-ready data centre in Malaysia, named AirTrunk JHB2 located in Iskandar Puteri, Johor region

The campus spans 4.6 hectares and aims to achieve a Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of 1.15. The project's development is supported through green financing.

AirTrunk’s first data centre in Japan, AirTrunk TOK1 in Inzai near Tokyo, officially opened its doors in November 2021.

HKG2 will be a retrofit of an existing building, offering 4,400 sqm (47,360 sq ft) of technical space within an 11,600 sqm (124,860 sq ft) facility.

AirTrunk first revealed plans for the TOK2 campus in May 2022 and began construction on the initial building in November 2022. The company topped out the second phase in 2024.
