APAC data centre firm AirTrunk has secured $2.3 billion in funding for its JHB2 campus in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. Announced in 2025, JHB2 is expected to deliver more than 270MW of capacity across a 520-hectare site, alongside the company’s expanding JHB1 facility.
The loan was supported by 30 local and international financial institutions and coordinated by ten global banks, including BNP Paribas, HSBC, and MUFG. AirTrunk said the financing aligns with its Green Bond Principles, which set environmental standards for the data centre project.
The International Finance Corporation’s $175 million investment in AirTrunk, announced last week, forms part of the $2.3 billion financing package. Founded in 2018, AirTrunk was acquired by Blackstone and CPPIB for $16.1 billion in 2024. The company operates and develops data centres across Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Japan.
