A powerful new alliance is reshaping Alberta’s digital landscape, as TransAlta, CPP Investments, and Brookfield have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop a massive data center project in Parkland County. Utilizing TransAlta’s Keephills site, the project is set to launch with an initial power purchase agreement and the strategic infrastructure already in place to scale significantly.
This partnership leverages Alberta’s temperate climate and abundant natural gas resources, aligning with new provincial frameworks designed to fast-track large-scale digital infrastructure. By combining TransAlta’s on-site generation capabilities with the global investment reach of Brookfield and CPP, the project positions Alberta as a premier destination for energy-intensive AI and cloud computing hubs.
