• Update: Following weeks of intense pressure from local residents and state legislators, the Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) has officially moved to halt the fast-track approval process for the controversial Stargate data center utility agreement.

Related Digital's plan for a massive new data center campus outside Detroit in Saline Township, Washtenaw County, Michigan, was initially put on hold after local officials delayed a zoning request.

In September, the developer filed a lawsuit against Saline Township, alleging that the refusal of its rezoning application for the data center constituted exclusionary zoning.

However, the township has since voted to settle the lawsuit with Related Digital. This settlement clears the way and allows the data center project to proceed.

The proposed campus is slated to be a substantial development, comprised of up to five buildings totaling 2.2 million square feet. The plans include three 540,000-square-foot buildings, an 80,000-square-foot building, a 100,000-square-foot warehouse, and a small administrative office.
