The Bessemer City Council has officially cleared the way for "Project Marvel," a massive 700-acre data center campus proposed by Logistic Land Investments LLC.

Despite vocal opposition from local residents and environmental groups regarding the project's scale and transparency, the approval grants the developers the green light to begin site preparation and construction on the 18-building hyperscale campus, which is expected to take roughly eight years to fully complete.

  • Update: Bessemer officials have announced that "Project Marvel" will move from its original proposed location to a new, adjacent site to address community pushback and infrastructure conflicts with the Northern Beltline. The developer, Logistic Land Investment LLC, is now acquiring an additional 900 acres to create larger residential buffers while maintaining the plan for an 18-building hyperscale campus.
