The Provident Realty Advisors' data center was a controversial $1.3 billion proposal for a major technology campus planned for the site of the former Brassie Golf Club in Chesterton, Indiana.
The project, which involved eight large buildings, was ultimately withdrawn by the developer in June 2024 following intense and sustained local opposition. Residents and environmental groups raised significant concerns over the proposed facility's massive consumption of water and power, the potential noise pollution, and its negative impact on property values and local wildlife, which eventually led the Town Council to pressure the developer into abandoning the proposal.
