Lot Size: 102 acres

Texas-based developer Provident Realty's plans to build up to seven data center buildings on a 102-acre site in Burns Harbor, Indiana (currently owned by Worthington Steel) have encountered significant local opposition. Originally proposed without widespread community input, the plan faced overwhelming resistance from Burns Harbor residents during multiple packed plan commission meetings.

In response to these concerns, Provident Realty, as of February 2025, has announced its intention to revise its proposal and address the concerns raised by the community. The community raised objections

  • The proposed height of 120 feet and the setbacks being only 50 feet.
  • The noise and potential impact on the nearby Indiana Dunes National Park
