The project's equity investors include SoftBank, OpenAI, Oracle, and Abu Dhabi's MGX, with SoftBank managing financial responsibilities and OpenAI overseeing operations.
In 2023, Lancium and former Bitcoin miner Crusoe began constructing a data center that is nearing completion and will be occupied by Oracle. It was later revealed that OpenAI would utilize the GPU capacity in Abilene for ChatGPT workloads.
The Stargate Project has begun construction of data centers in Texas, with plans to expand to up to 20 facilities across different locations.
