MegawattsThe mammoth NSA data center, which cost some $1.7 billion, will allow the NSA to store more and, perhaps more importantly, keep data for much longer. At the time when it was under construction, the Utah facility was the Department of Defense’s largest ongoing construction project in the continental U.S. It was completed in 2014.
NSA chose the Bluffdale location because electricity is cheaper here, and land more easily available. The center will constantly use 65 megawatts of power -- enough to power 33,000 houses.
The site has (4) four 25,000 sqft data halls. Each data hall will have up to 18.75 megawatts of critical power.
