Year Planned: 2028

Era4 (formerly Carbon3.ai) is planning a modular AI data center at the Liberty Steel plant site along the River Usk in Newport, South Wales.

Approved for change-of-use by the Newport City Council in March 2026, the project will retrofit an existing, disused building by replacing outer cladding and housing AI-optimized modular infrastructure on the first floor to mitigate local flood risks.

Designed to deploy Nvidia Blackwell Ultra hardware with HPE direct liquid-cooled servers, the facility is positioned within the UK government's South Wales AI Growth Zone, benefiting from fast-tracked power access and business incentives.
