Google: Monroe County

Lot Size: 948 acres

Google has closed a significant real estate deal, purchasing 948 acres along Rumble Road near Interstate 75 in Monroe County for $42.5 million. The acquisition paves the way for a future data center facility.

The tech giant finalized the purchase in October 2025, acquiring three separate parcels from local property owners. This move follows the Monroe County commissioners' approval of C-1 zoning for the site in November 2024, which made a data center permissible on the land.

Google paid approximately $45,000 per acre across all the purchases. The three parcels break down as follows:

  • 423 acres: Purchased from a Forsyth attorney for $19.2 million.
  • 361 acres: Acquired from another resident for $16 million.
  • 164 acres: Bought for a little more than $7 million.
