A proposed 1.2GW data center campus near Macon, Georgia, has been denied by Monroe County in August 2025. In July 2025, the Monroe County Planning and Zoning Board voted unanimously, 5-0, against a request to rezone 970 acres of residential land for commercial use.
The project, dubbed the Bolingbroke Technology Campus, was proposed by Bolingbroke Technology Center. Valued at $5.8 billion, the campus was planned in three phases, to be completed in 2029, 2031, and 2033. It would have included nine buildings totaling 5.4 million square feet and multiple substations from the local utility, Central Georgia EMC.
