A five-building data center campus has been proposed in Georgia.
Canoochee River RV Resort, LLC has filed an application with the Georgia Department of Community Affairs for the proposed Canoochee River RV Resort Data Center Project. The development is planned for a 470-acre site at 2700 Airport Road in Metter, Candler County, next to Metter-Candler Airport and south of Interstate 16.
Metter is located approximately 180 miles (290km) southeast of Atlanta and 64 miles (103km) west of Savannah. The proposal includes five data center buildings, each measuring up to 250,000 sq ft (23,226 sqm). Construction would take place in phases over five to seven years, with completion targeted for 2033.
A separate application has been submitted to the Candler County Board to rezone the site from AG-3 to planned unit development (PUD). The proposal also includes two on-site substations. The data centers would use closed-loop cooling systems to reduce water consumption.
The proposed campus first came to light last month when the county board shared details on social media about potential interest from an unnamed developer. Earlier this month, Candler County officials unanimously rejected a proposal to introduce a moratorium on data center developments.
