Google’s former head of global data center design and construction, John M. Wilson, has joined Anthropic as a member of technical staff, leading EMEA capacity delivery after six years at Google.

"Leading global infrastructure delivery across data centers and subsea programs taught me two enduring truths," Wilson said on Linkedin "Scale is humbling, but high-trust teams make the extraordinary feel routine. Clear intent, rigorous operational control, and calm execution will always beat complexity."

Wilson said the new role comes as “the stakes and scale have never been higher.” Before Google, he was Amazon’s European head of design and construction, and previously served as chief of staff at the British Army and director of infrastructure at NATO. He joins a growing group of former Google employees at Anthropic, including head of data center infrastructure Winnie Leung and former data center construction lead Brett Rogers.

Other former Google employees at Anthropic include Liwen Mao, now data center design lead, and Adam Johnson, who became data center electrical lead in October after a decade at Google. Peter Sarossy joined Anthropic’s data center security engineering team in January after 20 years at Google, while Zach Miller became data center operations manager after 17 years. Scarlett Chen also joined as a member of technical staff. In April, Sana Ouji joined Anthropic’s new energy team, followed by Mike Brinker in May to focus on capacity delivery. In June, Asad Malik became head of compute finance and strategy after leaving Google.Claude_BW.width-358.webp
