2012
Apple initially started with 160 acres in Prineville to build a 338,000 square foot data center. At the time the facility planned to draw 20 Megawatts
2015:
Apple acquired 200 additional acres for $3.6 million to support future expansion.
Apple started construction on its 2nd 338,000 sqft data center. (total of two buildings and 676,000 sqft)
2016:
Apple announced it would build a 3rd data center on the site.
Power:
- Apple signed a deal to purchase 200 megawatts of power from the Montague Wind Power Project. The wind farm is located in Gilliam Country, Oregon.
- Separately, Apple made a deal to buy 56 megawatts from Avangrid Renewables (Solar Star Oregon II) located near the Prineville campus.
- The data center campus used 115,000-megawatt hours of electricity in 2016
