It has been five years since Apple announced its $1.3 billion data center in Waukee, Iowa; however, it is finally going before the city's planning commission on Today.  At the time of announcing the facility, Tim Cook, CEO of apple, said the data center would help "drive Apple's future," but since plans were first proposed, only preparatory site work has been done.

As published by WHO13, site plans reveal that Apple is planning a 315,000-square-foot data center building to begin with, which could be expanded to include five additional facilities.

Further details around the project's timelines are yet to be announced; however, when first announced the data center campus was projected to cost over $1.3 billion.
