"Project Catalyst" is a massive, multi-phase data center campus moving forward in Osawatomie, Kansas, spearheaded by Lawrence-based master developer Alcove Development and local city officials.
Newly updated project details reveal a massive scale-up from the initial proposal, with the total site area more than doubling to 283 acres within the city limits to support a significantly expanded power designation. Expected to bring billions of dollars in capital expenditure over its multi-phase build-out, the project is designed around a modern, water-wise fully air-cooled architecture utilizing closed-loop cooling to minimize the day-to-day strain on local municipal water.
While city leadership heavily backs the initiative to inject over $30 million in projected annual revenues into a residential-heavy tax base, the development is currently navigating the entitlement and Special Use Permit (SUP) phase amid notable pushback from nearby residents concerned over its proximity to local neighborhoods and the Osawatomie State Hospital.
