In 2010, Prineville was selected to house Facebook's first data center.

In 2015, Facebook announced it was building a third data center in Prineville at a cost of $200 million. The data center is 487,700.

In 2017 Facebook announced datacenters 4 and 5 that would add more than 900,000 sqft of data center space and 70,000 sqft of administrative office space.

In 2018, Facebook announced that it will build two new buildings on the campus which will bring the total square feet to 3.2 million across seven buildings. (source: facebook.com) The 2 new buildings will each be 450,000 sqft and built on a new campus of 240 acres that Facebook acquired from Crook County fo r$5.4 million in 2017.

Since joining the Prineville community, Facebook has also provided nearly $1.5 million in grants to local organizations, including nearly a quarter of that to Crook County schools.
