Following the trend of building taller buildings, Facebook has revealed that it is boosting its capacity with a new multi-storey data center design as part of its global infrastructure expansion. The design is being rolled out in its Prineville, Oregon campus, deployed in two new facilities.
The new design will increase capacity by 900,000 sq ft, and this additional space brings the total area on campus to 4.6 million sq ft.
The company’s largest data center is 1.8 million sq ft and stands at 11-stories high, using a true hyperscale design.
