Plans are in place for QTS to expand its Piscataway facility in New Jersey. My Central Jersey reports that the company has filed for preliminary and final site plan approval to develop a two-story building to the data center campus at 101 Possumtown Road. By so doing, QTS plans to add up to 45,000 square feet per floor (90,000 sq ft in total) to the data center campus.
The facility currently sits on a 38-acre site, and it has many two-story buildings, associated parking areas, and an accessory generator yard. The township planning board will deliberate on QTS’s application before the week runs out. DuPont Fabros Technology owned the 360,000 square feet data center campus before QTS acquired it in 2016 for $125 million. QTS said it would be adding up to 8MW of critical power to the facility. QTS revealed that the data center currently has up to 52MW of critical power capacity with room for expansion.
