Earlier on Wednesday, fire broke out at QTS’s data center campus in New Jersey. However, it was extinguished under two hours without any injuries. QTS has now come out to say the fire did not affect its data center operations. It also noted that the fire will not delay the construction of the new building on the campus. A QTS spokesperson said: "Early Wednesday morning, authorities responded to a fire on a concrete and steel structure under construction adjacent to QTS’ Piscataway data center. The local fire department fully extinguished the fire shortly after arrival."
The company has been developing a two-story, 90,000 square feet extension to one of the data centers on the campus. The fire incident occurred in the new construction but did not spread to the operational data center. The spokesperson said: : "QTS determined that several pallets of roofing material stored on the roof for future installation caught fire. The cause has not been determined. No injuries or customer disruption was reported. The operational data center adjacent to the construction site was not impacted."
