A 6MW data facility is up for lease or purchase in Phoenix, Arizona. Located in the desirable Deer Valley neighborhood, CBRE has listed 20435 North 26th Avenue for sale or lease. There was no listed pricing. The 6MW facility was completed in 2003 and sits on 3.66 acres of land, with a raised floor area of 25,000 square feet and a total structure size of 54,655 square feet. According to the sales booklet, the facility features two 6MW feeds across two data centers as well as two 2.25MW Caterpillar backup generators. The data center has two fiber providers: Verizon and Lumen.
Although unverified, it appears that supermarket chain Safeway previously occupied the building. Multiple websites identify the address as a Safeway location, and some of the names associated with the address are for IT positions at Safeway and its affiliates Vons Companies Inc. LinkedIn profiles indicate that the organization had IT operations in Deer Valley and Pleasanton, California, as well as in Phoenix.
Safeway, founded in the 1960s, has approximately 900 stores in the United States. In 2014, Albertsons Companies acquired the firm. In a deal announced last year, Kroger was slated to acquire Albertsons for $24.6 billion; however, the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union (UFCW) rejected the deal in March of this year.
