In 2017 Crown Castle acquired Lightower Fiber Networks for $7.1B. Lightower Fiber Networks was a fiber provider with over 20,000 route miles of network and access to over 8,500 buildings in the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic and Chicago Metro

In 2015, Lightower acquired Fibertech Networks.
