Eagle Rock Partners, a company based in Charlotte, North Carolina, is proposing to build a massive, multi-billion dollar artificial intelligence (AI) data center in Twiggs County, Georgia. Rural Twiggs County approved rezoning of 291 acres of timberland, located at Adams Park Road, for the project. This specific site is part of a larger 890-acre tract owned by Weyerhaeuser Forest Holdings LLC.
The proposed data center would be a large-scale development, consisting of up to nine buildings, three electrical substations, and two retention ponds. The site was chosen for its proximity to existing twin 230-kilovolt transmission lines, which run through the property about 1.4 miles west of Georgia Highway 129. However, the project is facing widespread criticism from local residents.
Despite the location's advantage, the project timeline is facing significant delays due to power infrastructure constraints. Georgia Transmission Corporation has stated it cannot deliver the required power until late 2028, which means construction on the project cannot begin until that time.
